My love for turkey hunting began around the age of 12. My dad and I were invited to go on a turkey hunt on a friends cattle ranch. This would be the start of my guiding career. Sitting in a blind one foggy morning with my dad we heard several birds gobbling in the distance. After calling to the birds they came in at a dead run. My dad took the best of the three and I was hooked.
My poor mother had to endure countless hours of my yelping around the house. I can only laugh now as my wife yells at my son to " take that turkey call outside, there are no turkey in my kitchen". As a child I must have heard it a thousand times before. My passion for turkey hunting and being part of the completing the grand slam with so many people from around the country is why I enjoy guiding.
Florida Backwoods Adventures
The ranches we hunt are located in Osceola County near Lake Kissimmee. The landscape is made up of cattle pastures with century old live oak hammocks and cypress swamps. These ranches are operated by fifth generation Florida cowmen and have no hunting pressure. I have guided on these ranches since 1998 and have hunted with the owners for many years.
